IDS is a CGI written in Perl that generates a photo album website on the fly. All you need to provide are the images and (optionally) text descriptions. As you add new pictures, they will appear automatically. Each image will be displayed with information such as image type, file size, image size, and date uploaded. If EXIF information is embedded in the image (shutter speed, aperature, focal length, etc.), it will be displayed. It will create thumbnail preview images for JPEG, PNG, and GIF images. It will also recognize and display QuickTime movies, MPEG movies, and MP3 files. IDS uses HTML templates, so you can easily customize the look of your site.

My Photo Gallery is a Web-based photo gallery with support for other filetypes. It is easy to setup and even easier to maintain. Slick-looking image/file galleries and thumbnails are generated on the fly from the directory that you specify. Creating an album is as easy as creating a directory and FTPing your pictures to that directory. A Web administration interface is available, and updating is just as easy. It also includes advanced features such as image logging, resizing, rotating (lossless), extracting EXIF data from digital cameras, and visitor comments. Many other file formats are recognized and given a special icon.

WebMagick makes image collections available on the Web. It recurses through directory trees, building HTML pages, imagemap files, and client-side/server-side maps or HTML tables to allow the user to navigate through collections of thumbnail galleries. Using JavaScript, HTML tables and cookies, WebMagick can also allow the viewer to configure how they view the gallery. The primary focus of WebMagick is performance. Image thumbnails are reduced and composed into a single image to reduce client accesses, reducing server load and improving client performance. Everything is pre-computed. During operation WebMagick employs innovative caching and work-avoidance techniques to make successive executions much faster. WebMagick has been successfully executed on directory trees containing many hundreds of directories and hundreds of thousands of images ranging from tiny icons to large JPEGs and PDF files.

SWIGS is a system for creating hierarchically organized sets of thumbnail galleries. Multiple sizes for each image are produced automatically, and each image can be annotated with a relevant description, date, photo credit, etc. The image galleries (albums) have a tree structure, each album possibly containing pictures and/or additional albums. The album is made up of a set of webpages: a set of thumbnail pages for the images in the gallery, a text-only list of all the images in the album (with description if available), and a page listing all the sub-albums of the current album, with a description and sample image for each.

The goal of this project is to create a web based interactive photo sharing system. That is especially useful when digital cameras become more and more popular. cthumb allows you to create an html picture album, with an index and several pages, each with thumbnails of your pictures. Optionally, it generates the same pages in several languages simultaneously. It automatically generates thumbnails of the pictures. It attempts to be nice in the look of the pages it generates. It is geared towards people that have ton of digital images that need to be labeled and classified. All you need is the pictures and a text editor to put all the titles for every picture in a simple "album" textfile. It also allows you to customize almost everything in the way the albums look on the screen, from the size of the thumbnails to the background and foreground colors, the border colors, whether you want film-strips, etc.

emAlbum is an online image content manager that supports an unlimited number of categories, sub-categories, and images. UPDATED: emAlbum has been completely rewritten with many new features including: template support, thumbnail support, language files, and on the fly folder/image detection. emAlbum is easy to install and we offer a support forum and detailed users documentation for assistance. Supports JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, and TIF images and will work with any OS/Web Server combo running Perl 5 or higher.

PhotoShelf is a web-based digital image management, archive and display system written in Perl, backended by PostgreSQL. It is used to catalogue and arrange into albums photos from a digital camera or any other source. It aims to be very featureful and a complete solution for the only place where your photos need to be stored. Current features include: Able to store thousands of images (author has 3000 currently); Arranges photos into albums with thumbnails; Album lists are very user friendly and can be nested; Upload images from the web - either raw .jpg, or tar/zip files can be automatically unpacked too; Metadata about images is stored, including photo exposure data, categorisation, keywords, dates; Automatically extracts information out of EXIF headers, used by many digital camers; Multiple users can have their own album hierarchy; Online help for every page; Anonymous access - a user can grant anonymous view access to albums, images, or selected images in an album; Uses a postgresql database as the backend - Image data is stored directly in a nested unix directory hierarchy, indexed within the database for fast access; and Can perform basic image manipulation functions from the web page.

ThumbsUp! is a web based picture thumbnailing program written in perl. Main features include: On the fly creation of new thumbnails - After configuration, all you have to do is copy a picture into the thumbnailed folder, and ThumbsUp will create the thumbnails next time a person views it, Support for JPEG, PNG & GIF, Highly customizable - You can alter everything from the image sizes, to the number displayed, the title & the ability to alter the behavior of the tables & images, Allows user defined html headers & footers, Can display image size, dimension & user defined descriptions, Can be configured to use preexisting thumbnails, instead of the automatically generated ones, and After thumbnails are created, system is quite fast.

album.pl allows you to browse a directory tree and display all the images in it through a customizable web based interface. Any new images added are automatically displayed in the photo album. album.pl can integrate with many forums such as UBB, SMF, etc to share users and passwords. Even cookies from these forums are used. Users can be permitted to upload photos directly into your photo album, if you wish. By using string tables, templates and style sheets, album.pl has been designed to be customizable in every way. You can also add descriptions to any file or directory to make it look more professional, run slide shows, generate static HTML for burning on to a CD-ROM and view thumbnails, edit, delete, move, configure and more.
